BBC weather forecast issues SNOW warning for Easter weekend – see if you're affected HERE!

Matt Terry presented the BBC Breakfast weather report this morning live from St. Katherine Docks in East London.

The meteorologist warned viewers that there would be plenty of snow over the Easter weekend and heavy rainfall.

Matt said: “By the end of Sunday we’ll see some rain in Devon and Cornwall that will become heavy over night in southern counties.

“And as it hits cold air for Easter Monday, anywhere from Wales, the Midlands and northwards into southern Scotland we could see some snow.

“Not just on the hills, but even to lower levels at times.”

The weather this Easter weekend is set to vary, with it predicted to rain, snow and drop to freezing conditions in some parts of Britain.

However, there will be drier periods too, although the weather is likely to worsen before it improves.

Good Friday starts of fine for many, as an area of rain and hail snow pushes away from north east England to eastern Scotland.

Overnight snow showers will leave a layer of snow for some in north east Scotland.

Single figure temperatures are predicted today, with the coolest weather in areas further north such as Aberdeen and Lerwick.

Meanwhile, in southern England heavy showers will develop, particularly in Wales, the Midlands and East Anglia.

On Saturday there could be some snow on the hills in Wales and a few wintry showers in the early hours of the morning.

With an area of low pressure producing some rain and hail snow it appears northern England may be affected most.

But the weather will weaken and start pulling away eastwards as the day goes on, resulting in some western areas brightening up.

Some snow showers are going to remain, especially in north eastern Scotland where the temperatures are very low for this time of year.

The wind will ease on Sunday, although it is going to be frosty, with some fog patches in places.

A strengthening wind heading into southwest England on Easter Sunday is an indication of the weather to come on Easter Monday.

Bank holiday Monday and another weather system moves northwards into cold air, which ups the risk of disruptive snow.

The snow will not be entirely restricted to the hill lands, therefore traveller are to be cautious when making journeys today.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays on BBC One at 6am.
