BBC Breakfast row erupts as host clashes with HS2 campaigner: ‘How do you know?!’

One shared: “HS2 isn’t a way for the country to become connected. There are already decent train connections on that route, yet still huge parts of the U.K. which are impossible to get to #BBCBreakfast.”

“Do we need high-speed trains, or is HS2 a vanity project which in these changing times is redundant and a criminal waste of money? #BBCBreakfast,” asked another.

A third commented: “#BBCBreakfast I guess one of the things the COVID situation has shown us is that work can continue without meeting face to face. This probably makes the HS2 even less relevant now.”

“The man on #bbcbreakfast not sure who he was but he convinced me (preaching to the choir to be fair) that #HS2 is a huge pointless waste of money time and effort, money time and effort that could be much better spent elsewhere,” agreed another.

BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
