One of the loveliest things about our friends at Gallery1988 is how they’ll elevate their best artists – you’ll see someone’s work a few times in one of their themed group shows, and then sooner or later, that artist will get a solo showcase. That’s what they’ve got up now: an exhibit of “mini-portraits” by Ashton Gallagher, his first solo show, which lovingly captures the visages of Furiosa, Dumbledore, Ripley, Marion Ravenwood, and many more. We’ve plucked out some of the very best, but you can check out the full selection – and even buy the ones that haven’t sold out yet – at the G1988 site. Or you can see them in person at their Los Angeles gallery; “Mini-Portraits” is on display through Saturday.
