Average woman spends 29 minutes putting on make-up to achieve 'natural look'

Research revealed 86 per cent work hard and use a host of products and techniques to appear fresh-faced.

Half of the 2,000 women questioned said they chose soft contouring and nude lips to look dewy and make-up free.

But it takes 10 items and processes to look so flawless, and a fifth use more products to look natural than for a heavy made-up look.

A third often watch online tutorials with tips from make-up artists to recreate the no-make-up make-up look.

Concealer, primer, powder, foundation and blusher are all popular.

Eyes and lips are highlighted with tints, shadows, mascaras, pencils, balms and lipsticks.

And 35 per cent use a moisturiser, while 29 per cent go for double mascara on upper lashes.

Although the bare-faced look has long been favoured for daytime wear, 45 per cent now opt for it when hitting the town.

A third never go out without makeup. Six per cent wouldn’t let their partner see them “au naturel”, and 14 per cent put on make-up before their partner wakes.

Sarah Gardner, head of beauty for Superdrug, which carried out the study, said: “Getting the natural look isn’t as easy as washing your face and brushing your hair.”
