After such a long wait and monumental build up Avengers 3 is here. It will soon be gone leaving an unprecendented trail of death and destruction in its wake.
There are only two Marvel movies out before Avengers 4 hits cinemas next April in the UK.
Both films are lead by characters not seen in Infinity War but one at least will definitely feature characters fans saw die in the latest movie. How is this possible and what can either movie tell us about Avengers 4?
Especialy since Marvel have confirmed that Ant-Man 2 is the MCU movie most connected to the Infinity War saga…
WARNING INFINITY WAR SPOILERS
ANT-MAN AND THE WASP:
The movie is out on August 3 in the UK a month after its US release on July 6.
The Ant-Man sequel is set after the events of Captain America: Civil War but before Avengers: Infinity War.
Scott Lang’s absence from Avengers 3 was explained as a deal cut with the US government to stay with his family under house arrest as long as he has no further involvement with Captain America’s rebellion.
The truth should be way more exciting, since Lang is expecetd to start exploring the Quantum realm, which will have huge repercussions for Avengers 4.
Alongside Evangeline Lily’s Hope van Dyne, the new Wasp, Ant-Man will continue the search for Michelle Pfeiffer’s Janet van Dyne, the original Wasp.
The Ant-Man suit allows access to the time and reality-bending Quantum Realm.
Since some form of time travel, time rboot or alternate reality is expected to feature heavily in Avengers 4, this would explain why Kevin Feige and the Russo brothers have revealed how closle the two movies are linked.
However is is Captain Marvel who will likely change the game when she finaly appears.
CAPTAIN MARVEL:
Captain Marvel is out on March 8, 2019, six weeks before Avengers 4.
The film is et back in teh 1990s, and yet will have definite crossover with Avengers 4 and somehow lead straight into the climax to the Infinity War storyline. The end credits of Avengers 3 showed Nicky Fury messaging Captain Marvel for help just as he is killed in The Snap.
The movie follows Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.
The plot will feature the Skrulls as the villains. This references the classic Kree-Skrull War from the Marvel Comics. Samuel Jackson’s Fury is confirmed.
Ronan the Accuser will also return.
Since Captain Marvel is one of the most powerful beings in the MCU, it is likely her help will be vital to somehow reverse The Snap and defeat Thanos. Perhaps she will even wield the Infinity Gauntlet herself?
In the comics she also spends time in an alternate reality, which could link to Ant-Man and the Quantum Realm and explain her absence from Earth since the 1990s.
