Marvel fans are bracing themselves for a devastating end to Infinity War.
Rumours are swirling that Captain America, Iron Man, Vision and Loki could all be making the ultimate sacrfice.
So, it’s good to hear that one hugely popular character is about to make a big screen comeback.
He was last seen breaking audience (and superhero) hearts in Avengers Assemble, but there is always a chance of life after death in the MCU and this beloved chap is offficially making a comeback…
Clark Gregg’s winning turn as Agent Coulson was the heart and soul of the emerging superhero team but it was his death at the hands of Loki that united them. He is already alive and (not so) well in the TV spin-off Agents of SHIELD. However, after being revived with Kree technology, he is beginning to fade.
As the first pictures emerged of Brie Larson in costume filming the Captain Marvel movie, the studio has just announced the first official plot synopsis and cast list and Coulson has pride of place.
What does this mean and how can he be alive again on the big screen?
SCROLL DOWN FOR CAPTAIN MARVEL SYNOPSIS AND COULSON’S MOVING DEATH SCENE
The simple answer is that Captain Marvel is set in the 1990s.
This predates any big screen events in the existing Marvel movies and will show the transformation of the human Carol Danves into the unimaginably poweful Captain Marvel.
The movie also features Samuel L Jackson’s much-missed Nick Fury and will give a fascinating insight into his and Coulson’s first-ever encounter with a super-powered being.
Djimon Hounsou and Lee Pace will also be back in their Guardians of the Galaxy roles as Korath the Pursuer and Ronan the Accuser.
Captain Marvel official synopsis:
“The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, Captain Marvel is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
