Someone just sent a blast of superhero shade at Benedict Cumberbatch’s Marvel magician.
When he was asked about Doctor Strange’s powers in a recent chat, Hiddleston ddin’t hold back. The two British stars play rival characters in the MCU, both of whom use magic as their primary source of power.
Hiddleston said: “Yes, his (Doctor Strange’s) sorcery is very impressive, but Loki’s been doing that for centuries. So who cares?”
Of course, the actor is far too polite to be openly dismissing his colleague. Hiddleston was speaking on behalf of his on-screen alter-ego, Loki.
In the end-credits scene from the Doctor Strange movie, Strange openly dismisses the Asgardian god, saying: “What do we need him for?”
Hiddleston believes that Loki will regard the new Sorceror Supreme as an inferior wannabee.
The godly diss came during an interview with IGN to promote Hiddleston’s latest film Kong; Skull Island. Instead, the trickster god would have been far more interested in fellow trouble-making deity Hela, who will make he debut in Thor: Ragnarok.
The actor said: “I think he (Loki) probably dismisses Strange…
“Hela is a different beast and full of surprises and might have been someone with whom at one time he might have got along. But the circumstances have changed.”
Thor: Ragnarok promises some shock revelations and includes a fight to the death between Thor and The Hulk.
Recent leaks also suggest that we might see the destruction of Asgard and the appearance of popular Guardians of the Galaxy characters.
What we do know for sure is that Cate Blanchett is playing the evil Hela, Goddess of Death, and that Odin, himself, will feature in scenes set on Earth.
Thor: Ragnarok will be released in UK cinemas on October 27, 2017.
Avengers Infinity War will be released in UK cinemas on April 27, 2018.
