In a couple of months, Avengers Endgame will finally hit cinemas, but some lucky folks out that have already seen it. The Marvel epic’s directors Joe and Anthony Russo have revealed the film has test screened four times. Not only have the filmmakers revealed the first reaction to Avengers Endgame, but also that it’s a whopping three hours long. Speaking with Collider, Joe Russo said: “We’re still at the three-hour mark.”
He continued: “I think the studio is down with what the best story is.
“Right now, we think the movie is playing well and we’ve had great responses from our test audiences and we’re feeling very good about where it is.
“We’re still doing work to it. We’re not done with it.
“Again, this is a culmination film of 22 movies, it’s a lot of storytelling to work into it. Emotion is an intrinsic part of that to us.”
Joe added: “When you have to tell a really complicated story and you want strong emotional moments with the characters, it just requires a certain amount of real estate.
“This one, in particular, feels like three hours worth of real estate.”
When asked about the possibility of an interval or worry about children needing to use the toilet, Joe admitted they had joked in editing about an interval.
As for bladder control, Anthony said: “We have screened the movie four times for audiences now. For the first three screenings, not a single person got up to go to the bathroom.”
Meanwhile, Star-Lord actor Chris Pratt teased that Avengers Endgame will never be matched again.
He told Digital Spy: “I know things, ok? And I feel like audiences are gonna be blown away when this next film comes out. This is an experience for fans that truly never will be matched again in the history of cinema.”
While on Good Morning America he added: “I am a vault of information that would break the internet…everything it promises in the previous movie, it delivers on and so much more.”
Avengers Endgame will be released in UK cinemas on April 25, 2019.
