The film – released last year – was an enormous smash hit, thanks to its shocking ending that saw half of all living things turned to dust. Of course we only saw the fates of (most of) the Avengers characters, but there are many others in the Marvel universe whose status fans are still unsure of.
Now, Luke Cage actor Mike Colter has revealed what happened to his character – and it’s not good news.
Speaking to Comic Book, he confirmed he would not be crossing over to the big screen with Avengers: Endgame.
Why? Because his character did not survive that click of Thanos’ fingers.
“Am I in Avengers: Endgame? Well, you know what? Based off what happened, I’m already dead,” he said.
“The snap has already happened with Luke Cage. We’re dead, we’re already gone!
“I hate to break it down, break people’s… but no, no, we’re not [in that movie].”
Of course Colter’s words have a double meaning here – as the Luke Cage show has literally been “snapped” by bosses.
Netflix controversially axed it in October following creative differences with the series’ writers.
So whether Colter meant Cage is literally ash in the Marvel universe, or if he was joking about Netflix turning the show to dust, it seems he definitely won’t be continuing his MCU career in Avengers: Endgame.
That movie is now less than four months away – and anticipation is huge.
The all-star blockbuster is due in cinemas in April, after Brie Larson makes her debut in the 1990s-set Captain Marvel in March.
Avengers: Endgame is out on April 26.
