The suggestion, which has been posted on Reddit’s Fan Theories board, has been 91% Upvoted by the Marvel fans who have read it.
User PorzingisDingus wrote: “It will basically, to the unsuspecting audience member, be a recap of the ending of A3 and the snap.
“Only this time, all phase 1 heroes (Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Etc) will disappear. It will be from the points of view of Black Panther & Doctor Strange.”
That would certainly be a very powerful way to kick off the film, and the Redditor had equally engrossing suggestions for what would happen next.
They added: “Doctor Strange being the only person who knows what is going on will explain to the others on Titan that Thanos successfully got all the stones but ended up unknowingly splitting the universe into two dimensions.
“I think both dimensions will be unstable, and it will become evident that there must be a reunification at some point before everything goes to shit.
“I believe this will further lead to the original Avengers seeking out Ant Man and Hank Pym to help them (Banner & Stark) develop some kind of quantum technology to allow for inter-dimensional travel or at the very least communication.
“Traveling will probably require the likes of Thor or Captain Marvel, it being too dangerous for the others.”
They went on: “All the while the new Avengers build chemistry as they manoeuvre through the obstacles placed in their way.
“Realistically, anything could be done here. Maybe they must face old villains in this new dimension? The return of Ultron?
“The point is, this movie will bridge the gap between the old and new Avengers by placing the new Avengers on their own.”
Very little is known about Avengers 4, but last week the writers – Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely – admitted that it is still very much being made, and is nowhere near finished yet.
Speaking on the Fat Man and Batman podcast, they said: “The status of Avengers 4 is that we shot it, but it’s not due for a while.
“There’s time for reshoots and fixing and we’re scrubbing through it.
“The Russo brothers [directors] have been in there [the editing room] for a few weeks now and the team’s getting together tomorrow.”
They added: “It’s disheartening to get off the one that’s all done, and get in a room and it’s just full of parts.
“You know? It’s like, ‘ah, s**t. It’s not done.’”
Avengers 4 is out in Spring 2019.
