Avengers 4: Robert Downey Jr responds to Chris Evans’ MCU departure as Captain America

Earlier this week Evans tweeted to fans announcing his retirement as Captain America.

The 37-year-old star has played Steve Rogers across three Captain America movies and four Avengers outing, not to mention cameoing in others.

Now as ‘s Avengers 4 reshoots begin to wrap, the actor is finally done and co-star Downey Jr has responded.

The Tony Stark star tweeted: “We all know who the real sheriff in town is @ChrisEvans.”

Downey Jr accompanied his tweet with a picture of Woody and Buzz Lightyear from the Toy Story franchise.

Except they were mocked up with Buzz as Iron Man and Woody as Captain America.

A caption on the artwork reads: “To Infinity War and Beyond.”

Evans’ original tweet read: “Officially wrapped on Avengers 4.

“It was an emotional day to say the least.

“Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honour.

“To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.”
