Comedy impressionist Danny Posthill made it to the final of Britain’s Got Talent in series nine, and has spoken out during his show this weekend.
In the 2015 semi-finals, Danny impersonated hosts Ant and Dec as part of his act, before adding to his routine about the presenting duo in the final.
He finished 7th out of 12 contestants, but admitted that since Ant’s arrest, he has to be careful when joking about Ant.
Danny told audience including Express.co.uk: “You’ve got to be careful doing jokes about Ant now.
“All this has happened with Ant now, but he’ll bounce back. Won’t he?
“People love Ant and Dec don’t they! The thing is with Ant and Dec, anything they do just turns to gold.”
He added: “Ant and Dec could be managers of the England football team.
“Even if they’d done a s**t job, England would forgive them!”
ITV hasn’t officially confirmed whether Ant and Dec will be back presenting Britain’s Got Talent this year.
However, Ant issued a statement via a spokesperson, which read: “Ant has decided to go back into treatment and step down from his current TV commitments.”
His co-presenter Declan Donnelly will front the last two instalments of Saturday Night Takeaway by himself when it returns next weekend.
Nevertheless, Ant and Dec have already filmed pre-recorded segments for this year’s Britain’s Got Talent.
They were pictured along with the judges at this year’s auditions, which wrapped up in Manchester last month.
It comes as ITV told the Mirror: “It is utter nonsense to suggest that Ant and Dec are set to be replaced on I’m A Celebrity.”
Express.co.uk has contacted Britain’s Got Talent for comment on whether Ant and Dec will be returning to the show this year.
Britain’s Got Talent returns to ITV later this year.
