After publicly locking horns over the Meghan Markle and Prince Harry interview on Twitter, Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan welcomed Alex Beresford onto the ITV show today to discuss. However, when arguing about the allegations of “concern” over son Archie’s skin colour which were raised during the chat with Oprah, Alex touched on his own personal experiences of “covert and overt” racism in the workplace.
“Why the Meghan interview really resonates with me,” Alex said to his GMB co-star, “is because an ex-work colleague, not of this show, asked me if I was worried of the shade of cocoa that my son was going to come out.
“So I fully understand the hurt that is behind all that,” Alex added.
Piers tried to interject but Alex’s passionate speech continued: “When you’re mixed race, what I find in my own personal experience,
“People gain confidence and they say things to you that they wouldn’t say to a black person.”

Piers then pointed out this kind of conversation was the very reason he’d asked Alex to appear on the show.
And while Alex thanked him for that, he warned the GMB host about the “power of his words” when it comes to his public criticism of the royals.
“I’m not saying that you’re a racist,” Alex told the GMB star, who abruptly hit back: “Well, what are you saying?”
“Do you know what I honestly feel?” Alex snapped back. “I feel that because of your previous relationship with Meghan Markle -“
The row turned heated as Piers interjected: “I didn’t have a relationship with Meghan Markle, I knew her briefly.”
Alex tried to clarify his point further but by this point, Piers clearly wanted to get his own point across.
“All that did was – sorry, I’m allowed to speak!” Piers barked as Alex continued to try to talk.
“All that did was inform me that she is a bit of a cut-and-run,” Piers added.
Piers’s tirade against Meghan continued: “All her life – her father, her ex-husband, her ex-friends, they’ve all been cut out of her life, right?
“It’s an interesting observation that I happen to be one of those people,” Piers added, to which Alex quickly chimed back in.
“I do feel that in this situation -” Alex said but Piers furiously hit back at his colleague once more.
“Let me finish,” Piers said which prompted Susanna Reid to try and bring some order to the pair’s row.
