A generic enemy present in most RPGs is the slime. Generally, they’re adorable, less-than-durable tutorial monsters – but what if these slimes dominated the world and could be quite dangerous? Or cuddly pals to gather up? Slime Rancher takes this monster and shows it in a variety of lights, letting players wrangle them up, feed them, take care of them, get exploded by them, and embrace their squishy, cute faces.
In Slime Rancher, you play as Beatrix LeBeau – a rancher armed with a vacpack and an ambition to make a life out of slime ranching. The vacpack is your tool of capture and destruction, letting you suck up slimes to keep on your farm, or blow up obstacles as you explore a world filled with varied types of slimes, some friendly and others not.
When it comes to the slimes, they come in all shapes, sizes, and colors, including rainbow-hued or even animal-like slimes. Each of these different slimes can have different properties and diets, but above all else, they are all adorable. Slimes won’t be the only thing to keep an eye out for though. You’ll want to watch for different types of crops you could use back at your farm for feed, as the slimes you choose to keep as pets need food, too.
Whether when out in the wilds looking for new slimes for your ranch, or back at home keeping slimes fed and happy, Slime Rancher provides a beautiful world to explore and a wealth of slimes to discover, so players who enjoy charming creatures and colorful environments will feel right at home.
