Adele fans rage over travel and hotel costs as unwell star cancels Wembley concerts

The Hello hitmaker was due to bid farewell to her current tour with a double-whammy of concerts this weekend but has had to pull the plug after seeking medical advice.

Whilst fans have sympathised with her ill-health, many have been left with wasted travel and hotel expenses – and have taken to Twitter to complain.

“Disappointed for #Adele but this was a Christmas present for my Mrs. Hotel cost more than the tickets,” one person said.

Another wrote: “My daughters already in London. Travelled down from Sunderland yesterday. Lost £300 in travel and accommodation….”

A third person said: “What we spent to go to London for two nights to go see Adele could of went on holiday for a week… and no refunds on apartment or trains.”

“Trying not to lose my head at money spent on travelling and hotels to see @Adele to wake up this morning to find out she’s cancelled,” ranted another would-be concertgoer.

One person even suggested: “Adele should have gone ahead with the show tonight and mimed. I’d rather see her lip sync than not see her at all.”

Heartbroken Adele was left with no choice but to cancel, telling fans in a statement online: “I had to push a lot harder than I normally do… it turns out I have damaged my vocal cords.

“On medical advice, I am simply unable to perform over the weekend.

“I’ve considered doing Saturday night’s show, but it’s highly unlikely I’d even make it through the set and I simply can’t crumble in front of you all and walk out on you in that way.”

She also admitted that she’d considered lip-syncing but reasoned: “I’ve never done it and I cannot in a million years do that to you. It wouldn’t be the real me up there.

“There will be more information over the next few days. I’m sorry, I’m devastated… please forgive me x.”
