Catastrophe Season 3: Carrie Fisher's FINAL role will be 'bigger and chunkier' than before

The Star Wars legend plays advertising exec Rob Norris’ “awful” mother in the Channel 4 comedy, which was the last project Carrie worked on before her shock demise on December 27.

Speaking to press including Express.co.uk at the launch of series three last night, writers Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney opened up about working with Carrie and her part in the latest run.

The duo commented: “The first and second series, we didn’t have her for very long. She flew in and did her bit in about a day or two. Of course, we wanted to get to know her better – we idolised her.”

They continued: “Then in series three, we wrote a bigger, chunkier part for her in episode six and got to spend time with her. She was part of the gang!

“All of the cast got to spend more time with her. We really feel privileged and honoured. She was funny all of the time.”

Describing her as “incredibly witty”, the actors – who play husband and wife in the show – laughed: “She loved saying a***-holey things to everyone. She was also a really kind, lovely and supportive person.”

American Rob, 40, who stars as her son, went onto say that they did not know how they were going to address her death in Catastrophe.

Sharon added: “It’s a bit hard to think about that yet. I’m hoping a bit of time will pass and we’ll think of a fitting finish to that story.”

Series three picks up exactly where season two ended, with Rob having suspicions about Sharon after their relationship took a turn for the worst.

Catastrophe season three begins February 28 at 10pm on .
