Laura Benanti's Melania Trump Returns to Colbert, Plots White House Escape

If you’re happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it — unless you’re First Lady Melania Trump.

Laura Benanti reprised her role as wife to President Donald Trump on Thursday’s Late Show, calling in “via satellite” to chat with Stephen Colbert regarding rumors that she is unhappy serving as First Lady.

“Stephen, this is fake news lie. I am very happy to be First Lady. Look at me, being happy,” FLOTUS said, struggling to keep from frowning. She also insisted that her recent decorating of the White House is proof she feels right at home in Washington, D.C.

“It’s all so merry!” she exclaimed. “The stringing of the lights, the baking of the cookies, and Santa Claus, [who’s] such an inspiration to me.”

“How so?” Colbert asked.

“Well, if you can come down the chimney to go into a house, then you can go up a chimney to get out of a house,” she said, before revealing how she plans to escape from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
