BBC Breakfast: Matt Taylor warns of cold winds as temperatures drop below freezing

The meteorologist, 41, revealed it will be a very chilly day ahead as temperatures continue to plummet.

Much of the UK suffered a fairly wet and windy start to the day, which Matt confirmed is likely to continue.

Speaking about the cold weather ahead, he said: “Temperatures this week are on the slide.. below where they should be.”

In Scotland, he predicted that the strong winds will continue throughout the day. “It’s going to remain windy – a fairly raw feeling day across Scotland because of that wind”, he added.

During the forecast, Matt explained that there will be a mixture of showers and sunshine for most of the UK, with the best sunshine across eastern areas.

However, he did warn of outbreaks of rain during the day, he said: “We’ll all see a shower or two throughout this afternoon – there’ll be sunshine in between.”

He also predicted that for most towns and cities tomorrow temperatures will start above freezing.

Unfortunately, this will not last long as Matt confessed: “Don’t be fooled, a cold wind tomorrow will make it feel colder than that.

“Wind is at the strongest tomorrow touching gale force at times… [it’s] much much closer to freezing when you factor in that wind.”

Wednesday is expected to be the brightest day, but by Thursday temperatures will drop further, with it around 3 or 4 degrees celsius.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
