The OnePlus 5T has been revealed today during a major event held in New York today by the Chinese smartphone start-up.
The OnePlus 5T boasts smaller bezels on the top and bottom of the device to make way for a six-inch AMOLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio.
The screen on the OnePlus 5T looks like OnePlus’s take on Samsung’s Infinity Display which debuted with the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ earlier this year.
However, the bigger screen won’t come at a cost to how comfortable the OnePlus 5T is to hold, as it’s the same size as the OnePlus 5.
To make way for the bigger screen, the fingerprint scanner has now been moved to the back of the device.
OnePlus said the rear fingerprint scanner is not a compromise as the 5T also includes facial recognition, similar to Apple’s Face ID with the iPhone X.
Facial recognition unlocks the phone in 0.4 seconds but data-sensitive apps, such as banking, won’t work without the fingerprint scanner being touched.
The OnePlus 5T will also keep the 3.5mm headphone port, which remains with OnePlus stating its users want this popular way of connecting headphones.
