BBC weather: Viewers concerned for Carol Kirkwood as she presents forecast

The 55-year-old delivered the forecast from the seaside’s pier wearing just a gorgeous pink jacket to keep warm in the chilly conditions.

One fan told the popular meteorologist to wrap up as they wrote on Twitter: “@carolkirkwood you look frozen hat scarf & gloves needed…plus a hot drink.”

Another viewer gave Carol the same advice and said: “@carolkirkwood Carol darling, get a scarf on you look frozen #StayWarmx.”

A third praised her appearance as they commented: “Looks gorgeous Carol.”

Carol told those watching BBC Breakfast it will be chilly today but most parts of the UK should be able to enjoy plenty of sunshine.

At 9am this morning, there will be heavy rain in Scotland and Carol said this will “produce surface water and spray on the roads which could lead to travel disruption”.

For most of England and Wales, it will be a fine and bright start with temper tires ranging between 10 to 12 degrees to start.

Northern Ireland will also be dry but those along the north coast should prepare for some wet weather.

Through the course of the day, it will be very breezy in the northern half of the UK and the heavy rain will turn into drizzle in Scotland.

This evening, the temperature will drop and there will be more widespread fog in southern England.

BBC Breakfast continues weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
