The Walking Dead: You'll NEVER guess which zombie-killing star this is…

Melissa McBride is best known for her tough portrayal of fan-favourite Carol Peletier, but the 53-year-old star surprisingly had not one, but two minor roles in popular teen series Dawson’s Creek, alongside Hollywood actors James Van Der Beek and Katie Holmes.

During her first appearance on the US drama back in 1998 in season one of the show, Melissa played fiery young bar-goer Nina who becomes enamoured with 16-year-old Dawson Leery (played by James).

While the actress herself was a surprising 33-years-old when she was first chatted up by the high-school student, the scene came about when film geek Dawson decided to try out being a “bad boy” on a jaunt with his best friend Pacey Witter (Joshua Jackson).

Sporting a 90s-style white logo-embossed T-shirt, Melissa was worlds away from the role that made sure she shot to fame on the AMC zombie horror.

The actress even showed off a thick, shoulder-length mop of curly red hair, a far cry from Carol’s standard short grey bob.

The star completed her look with some appropriately gaudy jewellery for the decade and a matching burgundy scarf.

She also flaunted a deep red lip and smoky eye as she flirted with the series’ title character.

Not content with having one guest role, Melissa returned as Joey Potter’s (Katie Holmes) colleague in the season six finale episode “All Good Things”.

Still enjoying her voluptuous ringlets, this time brunette, Melissa plays a more serious and supportive older-figure in the main character’s life as she urged her to go back to her hometown of Capeside.

The actress may face a troubling time on current AMC drama however, as this week’s episode promises to plunge Carol into the middle of a sticky situation with villain Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

The teaser for episode two features a tense flash of the survivor hiding from a gun-toting figure. Will she make it out alive?

The Walking Dead season 8 continues tomorrow at 9pm on Fox UK, and will be available to stream immediately after on NOW TV.
