Boutella, 35, has had a stellar year, havng starred not only in the fantasy epic but also in spy caper Atomic Blonde.
She was also an integral part of the first Kingsman film back in 2014.
“You look at how enormously talented Sofia is,” Cruise said matter-of-factly.
“Very powerful – not only physically but emotionally.”
Boutella herself said of her character, Princess Ahmanet: “I don’t think she’s a monster.
“She’s a survivor. She wanted to honour what she was about to become, but it was all taken away from her.”

The Mummy was a big-budget fixture of cinema over the summer, grossing around $ 409.1 million worldwide.
Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Russell Crowe and Courtney B Vance starred alongside Cruise and Boutella.
