The Kiwi director is best known for his indie comedies What We Do In The Shadows and Hunt For The Wilderpeople.
Now he’s been given his blockbuster break with Thor Ragnarok, which is released later this month and has so far had very positive early reactions.
Marvel President Kevin Feige has recently spoken out on the possibility of working with Taika once again. Could it be on Thor 4?
Speaking with Screen Rant, he said: “Well, we’ll see. I would love, love, love to work with Taika again and I have every confidence that we will.”
Feige continued: “What we’re working on right now is the next six movies.
“The next six movies that will bring us to Untitled Avengers in May 2019, which carries off a lot of what you see in this movie.”
Of course 2019’s Avengers 4 will act as the end of Marvel Phase 3 and essentially the first saga of films in the franchise, so maybe Thor’s time is up?
Nevertheless Spider-Man is getting another movie set straight after Infinity War’s sequel, so perhaps there still is room for more from the Asgardian Prince too?
Even Robert Downey Jr has teased the possibility of Iron Man 4, but that’s assuming he – and whoever else – survives Avengers Infinity War unscathed.
Thor Ragnarok is released in UK cinemas on October 24, 2017.
