The ITV broadcaster, 52, had to intervene as Labour MP Chuka Umunna and Conservative politician engaged in an angry war of words as the latter said that no deal was better than a bad Brexit agreement.
As the discussion heated up, Redwood, 66, told his sparring partner: “The pound goes up and down in the EU. It will go up outside the EU.
“We’ve actually had a period where the pound has risen about nine per cent against the dollar, I don’t remember Chuka coming on to say that was because of Brexit.”
At the same time Umunna, 38, could be heard trying to speak over Redwood and interrupt him: “Let’s look at the reality of the currency. Let’s look at the reality of the currency.”
“Nothing to do with Brexit, they are the kind of movements we had before we voted in the referendum,” Redwood hit back.
Umunna talked over Redwood, telling him: “The reality of the situation for most of this year.”
The clash became so heated that neither guest could be heard and Garraway warned them: “You can’t both talk over each other.”
Good Morning Britain co-host Ben Shephard agreed: “This is becoming a bit of a shouting match.”
However, neither of the duo could hear her over their own voices as Redwood continued to asset his point: “I don’t think Chuka studies the currency at all. The currency -.”
She ended up cutting off Redwood: “Alright John, let’s just pause it there for one minute because I wonder if it’s hard for everyone to follow when you both talk over each other.”
The exchange comes as Redwood posted on Twitter that “no deal is better than a bad deal” and shared a Sky Data poll in which 74 per cent would rather leave the EU without an agreement instead of one detrimental to the UK.
