Strictly Come Dancing 2017: Alexandra Burke blasts Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquez spat

The 29-year-old hit back at suggestions that she was “fuming” and raging” at the dancer, 27, for spending time with the soap star, 32.

“Apparently I am!” the X Factor winner told Lorraine Kelly today during an appearance on the ITV chat show.

She continued: “Apparently that’s happening. I don’t know where he’s got time to have anything going on to be fair.

“You literally can’t believe anything you read – not anything – those kind of things. It’s all fun and a lot of laughter with every single contestant who’s on the show.”

Alexandra revealed that she and Gorka had been training for 10 hours a day to perfect their dance routines as they continue to ride high at the top of the Strictly Come Dancing leaderboard.

She added: “For me, my concentration is making sure Gorka and I are fully in tune with each other and what we want to do and we’re having so much fun at the moment that we won’t let anything get in the way. We’re focused is what I’m saying.”

Reflecting on her tough regime, Alexandra said: “It’s hardcore but I’m loving every moment of it.”

The West End star admitted that she wanted to “vomit” shortly before performing in the first live show but had since controlled her nerves with breathing techniques.

The interview comes as Alexandra was reportedly “furious” at Gemma for getting close to Marquez.

“Not surprisingly, Alexandra is furious about how it might impact her chances of winning. She’s very ambitious and is nervous about it all,” a Strictly insider told The Sun.

Alexandra and Gorka are doing a Jive to Proud Mary by Tina Turner.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One this Saturday at 6.45pm.
