The environment secretary struggled with his earpiece while trying to discuss matters of ivory with host Naga Munchetty.
Gove, 50, was left apologising for missing part of her question due to his earpiece falling out.
“Technical problems always blight us at times,” Munchetty joked.
Viewers took to Twitter to laugh about the blunder, with one posting: “It’s an earpiece Michael, it goes in your EAR.”
Another added: “Whoever gave Michael Gove the cr**py earpiece on BBC Breakfast this morning, I salute you!”
However, the Conservative MP’s problems didn’t end there, as viewers couldn’t ignore a green light that was shining on the right side of his face.
One called it a “strange green glow” as another posted on Twitter: “An interesting green hue to Michael Gove’s head.”
A third asked: “When will BBC Breakfast fix their green chromakey spill?”
It appeared that the colour didn’t just hit Gove’s head, with football correspondent, John Murray, suffering the same green fate.
BBC Breakfast airs weekdays on BBC One from 6am.
