The latest instalment of the BBC drama was as eventful as ever, as Gemma’s (played by Suranne Jones) son Tom’s (Tom Taylor) secret was exposed, after his school friend Isabelle came clean and said that he had been forceful towards her at a party.
She explained: ”It was at the party, in Tom’s room. I kissed him and he said, ‘Let’s go outside to get away from people. Stuff happened and then he went off back home.
“We were kissing and it’s ok, it’s good, but I wanted to do more. Then, as we do, I’d had enough and I’d changed my mind. I just didn’t want to, but when I tried to move – he wouldn’t let me, he was grabbing, he got his hands on me really hard, he just wouldn’t stop touching me. I was hitting him and pushing him away but he wouldn’t stop.
“I screamed at him, he took a step back and just started crying, I ran and got away from there as fast as I could. I didn’t tell mum, as nothing really happened, but when Max found out, he asked Tom about it and Tom just hit him. We were trying earlier to sort it out but he just went mental.”
However, when Gemma’s ex-husband Simon (Bertie Carvel) decided to tell Kate Parks (Jodie Corner) what happened, she banned him from coming back into the house.
So, Tom decided to admit to his mother: “I was so drunk, I don’t really remember what happened, all I remember is her crying. I’m so, I’m so sorry, I’m s**t, it’s s**t.”
The pair then decided to flee the town for good, after Gemma – who sent Simon a text to say that he’d “won” – insisted that she would always have Tom’s back no matter what.
Ahead of the shock exit, fans of the much-loved series were left shocked last night as leading lady Suranne stripped off for a steamy romp with her cheating ex.
The GP and her former spouse had been discussing how to handle their son’s destructive behaviour at school when things heated up.
The pair had been at each other’s throats for the past two episodes but last night they gave in to temptation and enjoyed a steamy sex session in the living room.
Doctor Foster continues on Tuesday at 9pm on BBC One.
