Emmerdale spoilers: Is Ashley about to RETURN? John Middleton drops MIND-BLOWING hint

Ashley (Played by John) suffered a battle with dementia before sadly leaving his wife, Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) and son, Arthur (Alfie Clarke).

With ghosts seemingly impossible in soapland, John, 63, has suggested a way that he could return to the village.

This comes as Laurel has been trying to reach out to her late husband’s brother, potentially opening the door for a familiar face.

The actor told The Sun: “There’s no hint of Ashley coming back as a ghost but Ashley does have a twin brother called Luke so that could happen.”

John also admitted that he is interested in joining next year’s Strictly Come Dancing line-up, following in the sparkly footsteps of Emmerdale co-star, Gemma Atkinson.

He confessed: “I haven’t been asked but if they did I would be on it like a shot, I love Strictly.

“Most celebrity things I don’t really want to do, I don’t want to meet bugs in the jungle but Strictly is different I think – Strictly is showbiz.”

John also was quick to declare his support for Gemma, saying: “Gemma is a total athlete apart from anything else, she’s an amazon and she’s a really strong woman so I think she will be fantastic on it.”

Emmerdale continues tomorrow on ITV at 7pm.
