Princess Diana: Eamonn Holmes emotional as he talks about SHOCKING death

The 57-year-old ITV presenter appeared emotional as she spoke about the late royal on today’s episode of the breakfast show.

“Just casting our minds back to what we remember. I remember being in central London near Kensington Palace and the perfume scent of millions and million of fresh flowers,” he told viewers.

Co-host Ranvir Singh added: “And you did a special programme?”

He appeared downcast as he recounted his memories of covering the news of the late Princess of Diana’s death.

Eamonn sighed as he said: “It was the biggest news event that any of us will ever cover but it was quite shocking.”

Good Morning Britain remembered the royal throughout the programme today and also spoke to her biographer Andrew Morton, who wrote Diana: Her True Story in Her Own Words.

“I miss her sense of humour. She never took herself too seriously, her fizzy frothy sense of humour,” Andrew told hosts Eamonn and Ranvir, 40.

He added: “She didn’t want to be a clothes horse, she wanted to be a work horse, she always said.”

Reflecting on her sudden death and the age of 36, Andrew explained: “There were ups and downs, she was finding the light [before her death]. She was on an upward trajectory.”

The Princess would have been 56 had she been alive today, and the writer said Princess Diana would have a “glam ma” and an international humanitarian.

Andrew added: “She’s not being replaced, she is unique, like her brother said.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am.
