When the Queen of Westeros was first introduced on Game of Thrones she sported long, flowing golden locks.
But in season five, her cascading curls were shorn off before she was forced to walk naked through the streets of King’s Landing.
Once she made it back to the Red Keep and regained power many fans of the HBO fantasy series believed she would grow her hair long again.
However, Cersei’s (played by Lena Headey) locks have remained short for the past two seasons despite a lengthy amount of time passing.
So why are her blonde Lannister locks kept short?
Some fans believe that she is keeping her hair cropped to copy her late father Tywin (Charles Dance), which would also explain her high-necked dark dresses, which look a lot like chainmail.
Many will also remember her scathing remark made to her late husband King Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy) about her strength and ruling capabilities compared to his own.
“Perhaps I should wear the armour and you the gown,” she mocked him.
It seems entirely plausible that she is now using her hair and clothes to reflect the powerful leader she aims to be.
The latest theory comes after many fans believe that Gendry (Joe Dempsie) is the Queen’s secret love child and because he looked like Robert, she had him banished from the castle.
Game of Thrones continues on HBO this Sunday in the US and will be simulcast on Sky Atlantic on Monday at 2am.
