A couple of weeks ago, Moses Sumney released “Doomed,” one of the more heartbreaking songs in recent memory about not being in love — asking from the scary comforts of isolation, “Am I vital/If my heart is idle/Am I doomed?” Today, he tweeted the release date and, it turns out, very fitting title of his debut LP: it’s called Aromanticism, and it’ll be out on September 22, via Jagjaguwar. Noisey notes that it’s described as “a concept album about lovelessness as a sonic dreamscape [that] seeks to interrogate the social constructions around romance.”
Along with that information, Sumney shared a track list, a release date, and a live performance of “Doomed,” recorded back in January at St Stephens Uniting Church in Sydney, Australia. (It was part of a full set, all of which will air tonight/this morning at 1 a.m. EST on Double J, should you find yourself awake at that hour.)
Here’s the tracklist (including past tracks of Sumney’s, like “Lonely World” — from the Lamentations EP — and “Plastic”):
1) Man On The Moon (Reprise)
2) Don’t Bother Calling
3) Plastic
4) Quarrel
5) Stoicism
6) Lonely World
7) Make Out In My Car
8) The Cocoon-Eyed Baby
09) Doomed
10) Indulge Me
11) Self-Help Tape
