Everybody understands the need, the need for speed. Especially when careers come and go in a flash in Hollywood. After all it is 30 years since the original Top Gun and Kilmer’s star hasn’t shone quite that bright for several decades.
Even so, his constant tweets are a little undignified.
Surely actors have agents and representatives for stuff like that and negotations take place in private behind closed doors?
Kilmer really stepped up the pace in the last 24 hours with two shameless social media posts and accompanying pictures.
Last month Kilmer posted a Twitter image wearing a T-shirt with an image of himself as his Top Gun character Ice Man.
Ironically, the T-shirt logo says “Cool as Ice.”
Underneath, he wrote: “Friends said it’s official – TOP GUN 2 was announced today. I’m ready Tom – still got my top gun plaque! Still got the moves! Still got it!”
Almost two weeks later, with still no official comment on the actor’s involvement, he tried again.
First thing this morning he posted his own artwork, a painted image (again) of himself as Ice Man. He wrote: “New art of ICE MAN.”
Hours later he was even less subtle with a new post of himself back in the same T-shirt with the comment: “Still got it… Just saying.”
There is a growing trend for actors to ‘casually’ mention online and in interviews how much they would like a certain part, but Kilmer seems to be taking it to a new level.
Cool as Ice? Not so much…
