The iconic time travel movie recently aired on US TV channel TBS, but some eagle-eyed fans noticed something was different – the word ‘terrorists’ had been edited out.
The Back to the Future scene in question is near the end of the film when Marty McFly is in 1955 about to return to 1985.
He’s sitting in a diner writing a letter for 1955 Doc Brown, to be opened in 1985, containing a warning that he will be shot by terrorists the night Marty goes back in time.
Instead the TV edit has the words “by terrorists” on the letter blanked out, so it just reads, “You will be shot.”
Michael J Fox’s voice has also been remixed, so he doesn’t say the words when reading the letter out.
Instead the next word from the following sentence, “please”, is repeated to hide the edit.
Fans will remember at the beginning of Back to the Future when Libyan nationalists shoot Doc Brown for not building a bomb for them in exchange for plutonium to power his time machine.
