Wonder Woman star Chris Pine SLAMS Avengers: Infinity War – Marvel vs DC rivalry heats up

Last year and Disney were dominating DC and Warner Bros at both the box office and in critics’ reviews.

With the release of Wonder Woman this week, a lot was hanging on Gal Gadot’s solo outing to breathe some new life into the DC Expanded Universe.

Lucky for her and director Patty Jenkins, , currently on 94% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes – equally the highest rated comic book movie with Iron Man and The Dark Knight.

The film is also expected to do well at the box office this weekend and now co-star Chris Pine, who plays Steve Trevor, has taken the opportunity to lay into next year’s Avengers: Infinity War.

In an interview with Screen Slam, the star was asked if adding a theme of humanity to the usual blockbuster action was something that drew him to Wonder Woman.

Pine replied: “One of the reasons for sure. She, in particular — Patty [Jenkins] was a great reason why I wanted to be involved.

“I met her, I hadn’t read — there was no script. Then she told me what she wanted to do: the story, my character, and Gal’s character.

“I…agree that within this genre, it’s difficult to do something new, and usually, you just see a bunch of people killing one another — in outfits and blowing up cities.

“Like, I know there’s a thing called Infinity War, which is like, I don’t — really, like, Infinity War? We need more war for all time?”

Bold words from Pine aimed at what is expected to be the most expensive movie of all time from Marvel.

Of course before Avengers: Infinity War, its DC equivalent Justice League – which sees the return of Wonder Woman – hits cinema screens this November.

However can it repeat Gadot, Jenkins and Pine’s success, or will it just be another Batman v Superman? Fans will have to wait and see.
