Grantchester: Eagle-eyed viewers notice something VERY familiar about Sidney’s coat

Many were thrilled to see James Norton’s character would appear in the latest instalment as he tracked down Ronnie Maguire (Charlie Higson) after he had stolen money from Mrs Maguire (Tessa Peake-Jones).

However, Ronnie wasn’t around long enough to answer Sidney’s questions as he was brutally murdered.

His death prompted Mrs Maguire to find out where he was now living, which led to a confrontation with the reverend.

But those watching at home were quite distracted from their conversation as many eagle-eyed fans noticed something very familiar about his black coat with leather detailing on the shoulders – it looked exactly like one James had worn as Tommy Lee Royce in Happy Valley.

Taking to Twitter comment on the fashion blunder, one person wrote: “#Grantchester costume department really should’ve picked a different jacket for Sidney, it’s all gone a bit Tommy Lee Royce tonight.”

While another added: “@jginorton Is Sidney borrowing Tommy Lee Royce’s jacket in tonight’s #Grantchester?”

“I’m sure he wore that jacket as Tommy Lee Royce in Happy Valley #Grantchester,” a third noted.

Someone else questioned: “Is Sidney wearing Tommy Lee Royce’s coat in tonight’s #Grantchester @jginorton? Looks familiar!”

A fifth continued: “Is Sidney wearing Tommy Lee Royce’s jacket?! #Grantchester #happyvalley.”

The dramatic episode concluded with Amanda (Morven Christie) giving Sidney an ultimatum as she told him he would have tp choose her or the clergy.

What will he decide?

Grantchester continues Sunday on at 9pm.
