The Chase: Mark Labbett SLAMS Rylan’s Babushka format and Pointless repeats

The Chase star admitted that he had tuned in to Rylan Clark-Neal’s show in the hope of finding a new watchable quizzing gem.

However, the 51-year-old was left bitterly disappointed with the ideas behind the programme.

In a series of tweets, The Beast wrote: “Looking forward to first ep of @Babushka. Challenge TV has classic eps of The Chase for those suffering withdrawal symptoms.”(sic)

Seemingly getting behind the game, Labbett posted: “#babushka from this position go for 5k. Shame they wasted the peek earlier.”

The smiles soon disappeared as he then tweeted: “I liked #babushka as an interesting blend of Deal or no Deal and The Colour of Money (1/2).”

Taking a dig at the BBC, the home of rival quiz Pointless, Labbett took aim at their constant repeats that have left quizzers despairing.

He added: “Bravo to #itv for experimenting with new formats rather than take the cheap option and bung out repeats as BBC tend to do with their quizzes.”

Babushka will fill the slot of The Chase until it returns from an annual break this summer.

Following online abuse from fans of The Chase, Labbett praised show host Rylan.

Labbett said: “Rylan is doing a good job. Format needs improvement IMO but what do I know?”

Babushka continues tomorrow on at 5pm.
