Wonder Woman news: Gal Gadot movie in trouble? Box office forecasts are NOT encouraging

The Gal Gadot vehicle is looking likely to perform below the likes of Batman V Superman, Suicide Squad and Man of Steel when it opens this summer.

That being said, it’s still looking to be far from a disaster, with Flickering Myth forecasting an $ 83 million opening weekend.

That’s down on Batman V Superman’s $ 166 million, Suicide Squad’s $ 133.6 million and Man of Steel’s $ 116.6 million.

Wonder Woman is currently projected to rake in a still-decent total domestic haul of $ 225 million.

The market is certainly crowded when the movie is set to be released, with Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and The Mummy both launching in surrounding weekends.

It’s surprising news given that the first whisperings about the film’s quality are very encouraging, especially after the relative disappointment of its DCEU predecessors.

It does, however, perhaps explain why it was said earlier this month that no sequel has been confirmed.

Wonder Woman will be followed by Justice League at the end of the year, which will also feature Gadot heavily.

A lot will be riding on that blockbuster, especially given the monumental success of Marvel’s equivalent Avengers films.

Meanwhile, yesterday the surprising visual inspiration for Wonder Woman was revealed.

The movie is out on June 2.
