Sublime Impressionist Artworks That Blend Photography and Painting

Toronto mixed-media artist Stev’nn Hall, who we learned about on Colossal, merges photography and painting by staining, scratching, and embellishing images with acrylic, ink, and pastels. Much of Hall’s inspiration comes from the rural landscape surrounding his home in Canada. These straightforward images are then transformed into emotional, magical spaces thanks to Hall’s use of color and linework. Several of Hall’s pieces look like historical Impressionist paintings that came to life in new and unusual ways. See more of Hall’s mixed media artworks in our gallery.
