Super Mario Run Android LIVE: Nintendo's mobile game comes early to Google Play

The Super Mario Run Android version was originally give a release date of March 23, however, it appears that the download link on Google Play has gone live a day early.

The Express Online can confirm we were able to download the popular Nintendo app via Google Play in the United States, it’s unclear if the game is available everywhere else in the world.

“We’ve released Super MarioR un on Android a bit early,” a message from Nintendo confirms.

The Nintendo game was originally announced during Apple’s iPhone 7 launch last September and, until now, was only available to iOS users.

A tweet from Nintendo in the US revealed that the mobile title would be made available to Android users from March 23rd.

The tweet, which was posted earlier this week, reveals “Android version of #SuperMarioRun will be available on 3/23 with the Ver.2.0.0 update! Pre-register now.”

This latest version of the game includes content from the 2.00 build, meaning that new Yoshi colors can be found, as well as more of the game being available to play for free.

Super Mario Run is an endless runner game in the vein of Temple Run with players simply tapping the display to make Mario jump over obstacles that get in his way.

The game also includes a new battle mode which can be played against gamers across the world.

, with over 50 million downloads recorded following its December 15 release on Apple devices.

The new app reached 40 million downloads after just four days, the added ten million was confirmed on December 23.

To celebrate the worldwide achievement, Nintendo recently decided to give out 10 Rally Tickets for the Toad mode, explaining: “We hope everyone will enjoy the fun of the Toad Rally.”

The game was recently updated with the Super Mario Run Friendly Run game mode that lets you race against the ghosts of your friends in Toad Rally.
