SS-GB viewers SLAM 'weak ending' in final episode: ‘That was disappointing’

The BBC One series that is set in an alternative reality in 1941 and imagines the United Kingdom being occupied by Nazi Germany after losing the Battle of Britain, finished with more questions than answers.

The five-part drama – that is based on the 1978 novel of the same name by Len Deighton – appeared to differ from the original ending in the book.

Fans flocked to social media to share their confusion over episode five with one viewer complaining it “didn’t live up to expectations”.

One Twitter user wrote: “I’ve watched every episode, there’s five minutes left and I still haven’t got a clue what is going on #SSGB.”

“Well, that was disappointing. I was really looking forward to #ssgb but it really didn’t live up to expectations. Weak ending too,” commented another.

A third said: “Anyone else thrown by the ending of #ssgb this evening? Read the book years ago but don’t remember that ending.”

“Well, that was a anti climax, cheers for that! #ssgb,” another added.

One confused viewer wrote: “#ssgb what on earth happened at the end???????”
