Afterwards presenter Mel Giedroyc asked Miranda, who had stepped in to judge the show, what she thought of the performance.
The comedian and actress said: “I’m sort of scared and entertained in equal measure, mainly by the wig, which should be bigger.
A verse from the original song which made references to the LGBT community was notably absent from the cover.
This is the second time in over a month that a BBC talent show has omitted the lyrics from the song.
In February, viewers complained after Gary Barlow’s Let It Shine performed Born This Way without the verse which begins: “No matter gay, straight, or bi, lesbian, transgendered life.”
