It was the biggest burglary in English legal history and now it’s getting its own movie.
In April 2015 a team of older men broke into the Hatton Gardens safe deposit in London.
They managed to use an industrial power drill to get through the 50cm vault walls, before they were caught just one month later – no wonder filmmakers thought it would make a great story.

The footage shows Phil Daniels picking up the drill, while David Calder and Game of Thrones’ Clive Russell have an amusing argument and scout out the vault’s security.
However, the highlight has to be Larry Lamb and Matthew Goode plotting the heist itself.
The date they decide on is the Easter weekend, when it took place in real life, because of how quiet central London would be on that weekend.
Goode stars as the unknown crook who got away, while other notable cast members are gangsters played by True Blood’s Stephen Moyer and Snowden’s Joely Richardson.
The film’s release marks exactly two years to the day after the robbery itself.
The Hatton Garden Job will be released in UK cinemas on April 14, 2017.
