Ben Shephard snubbed by GMB co-host in awkward exchange ‘Not interested!’

Good Morning Britain host Ben Shephard was left red-faced this morning after co-host Jonathan Swain ignored his comment during a live link between the studio and location when discussing the cinemas reopening from July 4 in England. Jonathan was in a cinema to speak about the safety measures in place but as he tucked into his popcorn, he appeared to have snubbed Ben leaving co-host Susanna Reid rather tickled by the blunder.

For the past few months, cinemas alongside other entertainment venues have been closed in the UK due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced several changes to the hospitality and entertainment industry.

One of those being from July 4 – in England – cinemas will reopen to the public with a number of social distancing measures in place.

ITV correspondent Jonathan was live on location from a newly reopened cinema to bring the presenters up to date with the latest safety measures.

With the virus halting all filming and production of films across the world, there will be very few films which are new being shown.

Instead, Johnathan revealed fan-favourites and popular classic titles which will be rerun instead.

“Obviously when it comes to the autumn, the film I’ll be waiting to see is James Bond,” the ITV correspondent remarked.

“I was hoping to sit back and relax and maybe watch a bit of it this morning!

“Johnny and I, Jonathan and I have a friend who is a fighter jet pilot who lives by this film – doesn’t he Jonathan?” the presenter remarked.

But his question fell on deaf ears as Jonthan failed to answer. “Oh he’s getting stuck into his popcorn, he’s not interested any more,” Ben commented.

“He is, he’s fully absorbed in the screen now!” Susanna added. “Jonathan Swain, thanks very much indeed.”

Those watching at home were divided by the news that cinemas will reopen and discussed the issues on Twitter.
