The Chase: ‘Absolute joke’ Viewers in uproar over contestant’s ‘shameful’ decision

The ITV quiz was hosted by Bradley Walsh as usual tonight as the contestants went up against brainiac Mark Labbett.

However, one player’s action left some fans of The Chase seething after they made a shocking decision.

The second player to step up was Nigel who went high after his cash builder, plumping for the top offer of £33,000.

He did well in his head-to-head and subsequently got through to the Final Chase to face Mark.

However, by the time it came to the fourth and final player, Elaine, Nigel was still the only one to make it as two other contestants had been knocked out.

With £33,000 already in the bank and Nigel on his own, the Beast offered Elaine a very shocking low offer.

He gave her the option of minus £7,000, which Elaine went for, although she did apologise for doing so.

Fans of the programme were not very happy at what she’d done and took to Twitter to vent at the situation.

“Fuming about #TheChase, horrible that’s she took £7000 from him and managed to get back! What an absolute joke,” one fumed.

Another added: “Night ruined after that woman taking -£7,000 on the chase and her getting to the final.”

“Disgraceful that poor guy risked it and got £33k for that loser to come along and take -7k hope shame if she wins any of the money #TheChase,” a third declared.

A fourth opined: “Taking -£7000 on The Chase, is it? Shameful. I would be embarrassed to face my teammate after such a move.”

“I knew Elaine was a pain, but what she did was a trifle stingy #TheChase,” a fifth shared.

While a sixth commented: “Taking the minus offer of -£7,000 on The Chase, so ungrateful towards ur teammate who pulled in £33,000 Elaine damn.”

Although both Nigel and Elaine put in work in the final round they were ultimately caught by Mark.

Subsequently they both went home empty-handed and Elaine didn’t get the money she wanted to get her drive done.

However, Mark did admit that had they kept up the speed they were going at in the first minute of them answering questions, they could’ve well beat him.

He said: “It’s a totally different game with push backs, that’s why we never, ever take it easy.

“Unlucky, I wouldn’t like to face you guys again.”

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
