Coronation Street viewers will finally find out who was responsible for the Underworld factory roof collapse which killed Rana Habeeb (played by Bhavna Limbachia) this week.
The soap have teased several residents to potentially be the super villain, but last night, fans were left convinced that Gary Windass (Mikey North) confessed.
During the intense instalment, those watching at home saw the builder tied up, held hostage and beaten by Rick Neelan (Greg Wood).
In one scene, when the loan shark had left the room, Gary managed to throw himself off the chair and onto the floor, where he then pulled the phone from the desk onto the floor and rang girlfriend Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien).
“It’s me,” he told the answer machine. “Look I’ve not got long, I’ve got myself in a mess and I’m not getting out of it – not this time.
“I love you Sarah, and I am so sorry for everything I have put you through. But listen, don’t go home, Rick’s coming after you. You’ll need to tell the police what he’s done to me. And, there’s something else…”
Cutting off, the scene changed and when it returned to Gary, he had returned the phone and Rick was back tormenting him.
Just as Gary was about to be hit with a golf club, the police banged on the door and ordered Rick to let him in and Gary took this opportunity to try and escape.
Having to wait to find out exactly what Gary was trying to say, Corrie viewers took to Twitter to suggest he was confessing to being the super villain.
One said: “Did Gary just confess to the factory roof collapse? #CoronationStreet @itv.”
Another commented: “So it was Gary who sabotaged the factory roof then! That’s what he was about to admit to Sarah, the part of the phone call which we never saw #coronationstreet.”
“Can’t wait to find out who tampered with the roof, my money is on Gary #corrie #CoronationStreet,” someone else wrote.
A fourth said: “So it was Gary all along then #Corrie #CoronationStreet,” whilst someone else Tweeted: “So it was Gary who did it….? #Corrie.”
“I’m wondering if that “something else” Gary had to mention to Sarah was him confessing he sabotaged the factory roof? #Corrie,” a viewer remarked.
Elsewhere in Coronation Street, Norris Cole (Malcolm Hebden) is set to depart.
There is one person who is not best pleased about his plans and that is Mary Taylor (Patti Clare).
Upset after her husband returned back to Weatherfield demanding a divorce because he has got a new fiancée, Mary has been making Norris life hard.
As everyone gathers in the Rovers Return to celebrate his recent success; his Commonwealth Games Medal, Mary finds it difficult to be happy for him.
Will she tell Norris exactly how she feels or will it be too late?
Coronation Street returns tonight at 9pm on ITV.
