With Freddie Pargetter’s (Tom Laurence) return to Ambridge imminent, Elizabeth Pargetter (Alison Dowling) is determined to make his arrival perfect and goes above and beyond for her son in next week’s The Archers.
A self-reproachful Elizabeth blames herself for his descent into crime and tells Russ (Andonis James Anthony) she fears her parenting was inadequate.
Lily Pargetter (Katie Redford), who is starting a new job, also worries her mother thinks Freddie’s release will somehow solve all their other problems.
Meanwhile, the residents of Ambridge are in two minds about him coming out, although they do prepare for his release.
Having spent a substantial amount of time behind bars, will prison have changed Freddie? If so, could it be for the worst?
Elizabeth is already guilt-ridden, will she go off the rails if Freddie is not who she had hoped he would be?
Elsewhere in the village, Tom Archer (William Troughton) will discover a shocking secret about his new bride, Natasha, while Jill Archer (Patricia Greene) plans a huge event for Mother’s Day.
Sadly, Jill realises her idea, though thoughtful, is doomed after everyone reminds her what a disaster Christmas dinner was.
Also playing out in The Archers next week, is the fallout between Toby Fairbrother (Rhys Bevan) and Pip Archer (Daisy Badger) when the former says a little too much, putting her in a tough spot.
With Grundy’s housing crisis still looming, Will comes up with a plan to solve their problems, suggesting they move into Number 1 The Green.
Taking a leaf out of Will’s book, Clarrie Grundy (Heather Bell) tries to help Mia Grundy (Molly Pipe), who is struggling at school, but her idea does not impress him.
At the vets, Alistair Lloyd (Michael Lumsden) learns about his new partner, who will be arriving soon – What will the animal owners of the village make of the new arrival?
Clearly, fans of the BBC Radio 4 soap opera have lots to look forward to, however, they were recently peeved off when Adam Macy (Andrew Wincott) invited his half-sister Kate Madikane (Perdita Avery) to live him and his husband.
Adam failed to run the plan past his spouse, Ian, who he is due to welcome a newborn to their cottage.
What’s more, Kate brought up the fact she had offered to be a surrogate for her half-brother, which possibly led to his decision to move her in last week.
Several listeners were unimpressed with Adam’s move and took to Twitter at the time to vent their dismay at the character’s decision.
One viewer posted: “Bad move Adam, in six months time Kate will be sharing the cot in the baby’s room.”
Another exclaimed: “Adam, are you out of your mind” with a third adding: “Ugh, Adam. Stop indulging Kate. You’ll never shift her.”
A fourth remarked: “Oh dear Adam. You just let Kate get her foot in the door. Getting rid of her s going to be a problem.”
The Archers airs weeknights at 7pm on BBC Radio 4.
