Game of Thrones season 8, episode 1 cast: Has Edmure Tully return been confirmed?

April 14, 2019, will see the world watching HBO and Sky Atlantic as the final season of Game of Thrones is due to start. Most details have mostly been kept under wraps and a full trailer has yet to even be released. However, a now-deleted cast list was posted to the official HBO website which includes some surprises.

Will Edmure Tully be in Game of Thrones season 8, episode 1?

WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Game of Thrones season 7

While nothing has been officially confirmed, the now deleted cast list included Tobias Menzies who plays the captured Tully Lord.

All of the major characters are due to star in the Game of Thrones season eight premiere.

The major players who will definitely be making an appearance include Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington), Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage).

HOW ARE JON SNOW AND DAENERYS TARGARYEN REALLY RELATED?

Fans will also be excited to see the Stark sisters on screen together as Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams will be back as Sansa and Arya respectively.

Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), and Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) are also set to feature.

A surprising cast listing for the episode is Tobias Menzies who plays Edmure Tully.

Edmure is the brother of the late Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley) who has been a prisoner in the Freys’ dungeons since the end of season three following his capture at the Red Wedding.

He appeared in season six when the Lannisters used him as leverage to gain control of Riverrun but was locked up again after.

WILL CERSEI LANNISTER DIE IN GAME OF THRONES SEASON 8?

The actor spoke to Digital Spy back in March 2018 about his character’s future.

He said at the time: “The honest answer is, I have no idea. He’s obviously somewhere in a prison, he’s still around alive somewhere. They’re pretty stingy with their information and I’ve not heard anything from them.”

He added: “I feel like they have so many stories to tie up, whether that’s a story they’ll want to go back to, I don’t know.”

Also potentially making an appearance in episode one will be Lord Robin Arryn (Lino Facioli) who hasn’t been seen since season six and Carice Van Houten as Melisandre.

The red priestess was last seen heading back to Volantis, so it will be interesting to see what she is up to now.
