EastEnders spoilers: Steve Owen ALIVE and ‘back from dead’ as Ray Kelly in sinister twist?

EastEnders are gearing up for another dramatic start to the New Year and to add to the madness, one fan has come up with an incredible conspiracy theory.

Ray Kelly (played by Sean Mahon) appeared on screen earlier this year, but following his arrival and Albert Square super fan is convinced he is someone else.

The theory suggests Ray is actually Steve Owen (Martin Kemp) who was last seen in the soap in 2002.

And some will remember his exit, a car explosive which killed him. Or did it?

Following a 16 year hiatus from the Square, the viewer insists Steve survived the tragic incident.

Thus reappearing as Ray this year for revenge, after facial reconstruction surgery.

It comes after the BBC shared a photo of the two characters side by side, and fan Jason wrote: “Look at the resemblance!”

“Also look at Ray’s nose as well, that’s 100% meant to be a rhinoplasty… and also the fact Ray has a mysterious scar on his leg and how much he dotes over Mel’s son, sorry but I’m convinced!”

But this theory is not the only spanner thrown into the works.

Hunter, who is Steve Owen’s son, is heard shouting: “No, no, Dad please” in the New Year’s trailer.

Many viewers replied to BBC EastEnders Tweet convinced about the theory.

One said: “Though this as soon as I saw Ray! Steve Owen vibes #EastEnders.”

“Ray is Steve Owen he had surgery after escaping the car explosion,” another added.

A third wrote: “That’s the first person I thought of when I see Ray.”

Nevertheless, Ray is up to old tricks in upcoming episodes.

The actor recently hinted a gruesome end for his on-screen wife Mel Owen (Tamzin Outhwaite).

The couple are set to tie the knot tomorrow, but little does Ray know, Mel has been plotting revenge on her husband to be.

It comes after she found out he is currently married to two other women.

In fact, the sneaky lothario is hiding not one, but two secret families from his bride-to-be and her son Hunter (Charlie Winter).

But will her actions fire back on herself?

EastEnders returns tonight at 8pm on BBC One.
