Mary Poppins Returns songs: Are these the musical numbers in the new sequel?

The movie sequel is, like its 1964 predecessor, a musical – and there will be a number of showtunes performed over its duration.

ScreenRant has leaked seven likely titles, after having a set visit when the movie was in production.

Although they haven’t been officially confirmed by Disney, they have emerged after the site’s reporter listened to them on set.

The alleged titles include The Place Where Lost Things Go, Can You Imagine That, The Royal Doulton Music Hall, Turning Turtle and A Cover Is Not The Book.

Trip A Little Light Fantastic and Nowhere To Go But Up are also potential ditties.

The soundtrack does, of course, have a tough act to follow, to say the least.

The first Mary Poppins film spawned some of the most iconic movie tunes of all time, including the legendary Supercalifragilistic.

A Spoonful of Sugar, Chim Chim Cheree and Let’s Go Fly A Kite also became big family favourites.

Emily Blunt takes over from Julie Andrews in the new film, with Dick Van Dyke also appearing in a cameo role.

Lin-Manuel Miranda is the male lead, and other stars include Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Julie Walters, Colin Firth, Dame Angela Lansbury and Meryl Streep.

Van Dyke’s appearance left many viewers in tears when the full trailer debuted on Good Morning America earlier today.

He is seen very briefly dancing, after shooting scenes as Mr Dawes Jr – the son of the older character he played in aging-up make-up in the original.

Andrews, however, does not appear: director Rob Marshall explained that she wanted to keep the focus solely on Blunt.

He told Entertainment Weekly: “She said, ‘This is Emily’s show, and I really want it to be Emily’s show. I don’t want it to be, oh, here comes that Mary Poppins.

“‘I don’t want that. I really want her to take this and run with it, because she will be brilliant.'”

Mary Poppins Returns is out on December 21.
