Apple Watch Series 4 is widely expected to be revealed at the trillion-dollar firm’s forthcoming hardware event on September 12 at the Steve Jobs Theatre in Cupertino.
The latest wearable is presumed to feature new internals, but most notably it has also been rumoured to feature a fresh design.
Renowned analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, for KGI Securities, claimed earlier this year the Series 4 would feature a screen size 15 percent larger than its predecessors.
At the time it was not detailed whether this would be achieved by increasing the case size of the hardware or by radically reducing bezels.
However, a recent leak from 9to5Mac appeared to suggest the latter will be true.
The publication showed an image of an alleged Series 4 unit with much smaller bezels, meaning the device was able to showcase more content than ever on the screen at once.
9to5Mac insisted the picture was not a mockup, declaring instead it was official marketing material from Apple.
And now one of the biggest details about the screen may have been outed.
Citing “information found on the latest watchOS beta”, the outlet declared the resolution of the Apple Watch Series 4 could be 384×480.
If true, this would mark a noticeable bump up from the current Series 3.
Apple’s existing flagship wearable boasts an OLED display with a resolution of 312×390.
Additionally, 9to5Mac also speculated the Series 4 will come with a greater pixel density of 345 pixels-per-inch.
It added new watch faces will be available exclusively for the new product that take advantage of its greater screen real-estate.
It is also presumed third-party developers will have the option to modify their apps so more content appears on the screen of Apple Watch Series 4.
This could prove to be similar to the adoption of the iPhone X that led to developers pushing out updates for their apps to take advantage of the hardware’s lavish all-screen design.
In addition to touting a greater screen size, Ming-Chi Kuo previously insisted the Apple Watch Series 4 will come with better battery life and improved health sensors.
Better sensors would make sense for the product as Apple has typically focused on areas surrounding health and fitness during keynotes detailing new smartwatches.
watchOS 5 is assumed to come pre-installed on the Apple Watch Series 4 – the new operating system has a ton of new functionality that will make using the wearable better than ever.
Activity rings that have been embraced by Apple fans will now be able to be shared with friends, adding a fun and new competitive element to being fit and healthy.
A new mode dubbed “Walkie-Talkie” is also coming to the watch that will allow owners to speak to each other by simply lifting their wrist.
Express.co.uk will be covering Apple’s keynote on September 12 live where a deluge of announcements are expected.
